Emily
came home on Monday, and it's been a crazy week. Time already is flying
by, and she doesn't even do anything yet. We stare in wonder and hug
and kiss her all day. How we can feel so much affection for someone
so small, someone still incapable of recripocating our love physically
for another two months is beyond us. Polly is slowly recovering and
looks like the petite young woman she was 9 months ago. The interesting
concoctions that Polly's Mom has been preparing and forcing down Polly's
throat to help 'cleanse' her system I'm sure has a lot to do with
it. Actually, having her here has been a tremendous help. Our little
Monkey is such a distraction, I find it impossible to go to work.
We gave her her first bath promptly three days after coming home.
She's been to see Dr. Drew a couple of times already because she dropped
a little more weight than we would like - she'll be a super model
but no need to get started already. She is getting progressively better
and better each day. When she is awake, we want her to sleep. When
she is asleep, we want her to wake. We celebrate her poopies and pee
pees. I have gone off the deep end, but I never want to go back. She
opens her eyes now and discovers the world. My Mom & Dad came
to visit for the long weekend, and we took the opportunity to take
Emily for a walk around Eagle Park. Aunt Grace has been over almost
everyday, bringing us stuff, but mostly to take a peek and hold Emily
for a few minutes. Winnie goes inside to wash her hands and come back
30 minutes later - presumably with the cleanest hands in the world:).
Uncle Ron still is a little nervous about holding her, but he'll get
there. She's had a lot of visitors already - many of Polly's aunts
& uncles, Polly's grandmother, Eric & Laura, Billy & Carole,
Cindy, Jay Kim and of course, godfather Merriwether who has made the
commitment to teach Emily how to be cheap and already started a piggy
bank he promises to fill with a nickel each year until she is 18. |
